Astor Place

Astor Place is but one block long, but it is a named subway stop and it defines the area. The Public Theater, Cooper Union and, for many years, the Carl Fischer Building were landmarks. More recently a remarkable new building designed by Charles Gwathmwy dominates the landscape.
