I’ve visited Norway in August almost every year since 1986, when we were asked to help secure artists for the Oslo Jazz Festival. Most of my photographs from Oslo are music related, but on occasion I’ve been able to undertake non-musical projects, in Oslo and the surrounding countryside. Some of my favorites focus on the monumental sculpture of Gustav Viegland. To an outsider, Oslo in August is about as close to earthly paradise as one could imagine. Most of these photographs reflect this feeling.
