Oslo Jazz Festival 2006
The 20th Anniversary Festival featured special tributes and a number of special programs. This was the year I was given the “Ella” award for service to the festival and when I wrote a special show entitled Billie and Lester that was presented on two evenings at a wonderful theater called Chat Noir. Terry Burrell was Billie, Frank Wess was Lester, Dick Hyman was Teddy and Warren Vache, Earl May and Jackie Williams filled in the gaps. Queen Sonja came to call and it was a nice way to wrap up twenty years.
